In order to play one note, you need to know:
- How to read the note's name based on its position on a staff and type of the staff: Clef or Bass
- What octave the note is located in? You must remember the region of each octave on the staff including ledger lines above and below the staff for both Clef and Bass.
- What is the duration of the note? must remember all  forms of note such as whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, etc. including the "dot" = half of the note's form value.
In order to read a rest, you must remember all different forms of rest such as whole rest, half rest, quarter rest, eighth rest, etc.

                                                    The 3JCN

In order to play one note, you need to know:
- The note's octave = the number in front of the note
- The note's duration = number followed the note
In order to read a rest: it is just a real number
